Paru en danois en 2000, Rien a recu le prix du meilleur livre jeunesse décerné par le Ministère de la Culture danois. Cette aventure à la recherche existentielle du sens de la vie, a suscité une grande controverse au Danemark, et après en tout Europe. Aujourd'hui, il est un bestseller dans plusieurs pays du monde, et un des livres les plus lus avec les adolescents à l'école.
